Levels: Undergraduate Auburn Campus Lab Schedule Type Lab Instructional Method Learning Objectives: COURSE DESCRIPTION Provides an opportunity for students to enjoy and develop their singing voices. Activities include concerts for the College and community. Three lab hours weekly. Repeatable for a maximum of four credit hours. COURSE OBJECTIVES A. To offer students a continuing experience in vocal discipline and development. B. To provide an in-depth study old and new styles and schools of vocal expression. C. To offer students opportunities for performance in the community and for the college. COURSE OUTLINE A. Various choral techniques are used: 1. vocal techniques 2. tone production 3. correct breathing 4. posture 5. diction B. Stage presence and proper concert protocol. EVALUATION Grades are based on such things as: 1. attendance at rehearsals and mandatory performance participation 2. contribution 3. attitude ATTENDANCE POLICY Students are expected to attend all classes. Excessive absences, in accordance with the college attendance policy, may result in a ‘F’ for this course unless the student fills out a Documented Late course Withdrawal Form from the Registrar’s Office. Three late arrivals will result in one absence. CELLPHONES AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES The use of cell phones and personal electronic devices is strictly prohibited during class time. STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT AND STUDENT HANDBOOK Student conduct procedures, the Student Code of conduct, and a complete list of possible sanctions are detailed in the student handbook. Failure to abide by the Student Code of Conduct during this course may result in a Involuntary Withdrawal (see Student Handbook). Under no circumstances will racist, sexist, or any other inappropriate comments or language be tolerated in this course. Students that do not abide by this policy will be withdrawn from this course. EMERGENCIES In the event of inclement weather students should check the College website and/or check an official news source regarding College delays and closings. It is recommended that students subscribe to the RAVE Alert System to receive text messages regarding College emergencies. Required Materials: MATERIALS A. Traditional and original warm-up exercises. B. Choral literature from the Renaissance Period through popular music. C. Introduction of different choral styles of past and present masters. D. Pencil with eraser. E.
