Examines the fundamentals of nutrition including nutrient composition of foods, macronutrients and micronutrients, physiological factors influencing nutritional needs, nutrient digestion, assimilation, and storage, nutrient requirements across the lifespan, the role of food and nutrients in health and disease, methods used in dietary planning and assessment, sources of nutrition information, scientific methodology and methods used in nutrition research, biotechnologies, and food sustainability and insecurity.
