BIOL 218 - Infect. Diseases/Bioterrorism
For science majors or non-majors, this course explores the role of biological, ecological, political, and socioeconomic factors in emerging infectious diseases and bioterrorism. Topics explored include the biology of specific infectious diseases, the relationships between disease agents and vectors, issues related to vaccinations and other disease treatments, the impact of globalization on the spread of emerging infectious diseases, government agencies and disease prevention, food safety, the history and current status of bioterrorism, and societal impacts of emerging infectious diseases and bioterrorism.
